On January 12, 2012 DJ Shakey hosted a multi-room, multi-media performance gala at the Clocktower Gallery as part of her production and project residency here for ARTonAIR.org. Over 24 artists occupied 8 spaces for 3-plus hours illuminating the theme of alternative controllers for electronic instruments both audio and video.
One of the participating artists was DJ ATOM who has been experimenting with sound since he re-wired his AM radio to play through an old guitar amplifier as a child. Inspired by the works of The Orb, Akufen, Meat Beat Manifesto, Josh Wink, and Luke Vibert, ATOM creates mixes and original tracks using elements of the entire sound spectrum, ranging from classical music, to electronic beats, to found sounds of everyday life.
