(Note: interview in Italian) Curator, critic and ARTonAIR.org roving correspondent Claudia Loeffelholz speaks with Neapolitan artist Giulia Piscitelli whose installation as part of the Illuminazione exhibit at the 2011 Venice Biennale consists of eleven tapestries treated with bleach which, by losing their color, reveal an underlying image. The choice of the number 11 is no accident, for it refers to the article of the Italian Constitution that rejects war as an instrument of injury to the freedom of the people.
There are ten Italian artists in the exhibition curated by Bice Curiger, Illuminazioni, in the Palazzo delle Esposizioni and the Arsenale. Curiger, the curator of the Zurich Kunsthaus and co-founder of the art magazine Parkett, invited 83 artists to take part.
