Hosted by Stephen Schaefer
Originally aired 10/8/12

Swiss-French writer/director Ursula Meier hits the gong with the acclaimed Sister, her second film and winner of the 2012 Silver Bear director's prize at the Berlin International Film Festival. Switzerland’s entry for the Best Foreign Language Film Academy Award, Sister is a poignant drama that stars Léa Seydoux (Farewell, My Queen) as the irresponsible elder sibling who routinely abandons her scrappy 12-year-old brother (Kacey Mottet Klein), who must steal food and luxury items at a ski resort to live. Meier wrote the film for Klein whom she discovered for her 2008 debut film Home. She talks of the responsibility she has for this child actor, her willingness to go to Hollywood and the lucky break that got Isabelle Huppert to star in Home.
