Tony Curtis, along with co-author Mark A. Vieira, has written one of the best behind the scenes accounts of one of the greatest comedies ever made, in the just published The Making of ‘Some Like It Hot,’ My Memories of Marilyn Monroe and the Classic American Movie.
Vieira talks about the three days he spent with Curtis, on the 50th anniversary of the film's release. He says Curtis is still conflicted about his time on set because of some of the fraught relationships he had there: with director Billy Wilder, his leading lady, and her husband at the time, Arthur Miller. One reason may have been that, as Curtis reveals for the first time, he and Monroe had a very brief affair. His riveting look back is buttressed by a sheaf of rarely seen publicity shots, some in dazzling color (29 minutes).
