Tom Sturridge, Pirate Radio
Ever since he made a memorable international splash at the tender age of 18 opposite Annette Bening and Jeremy Irons in Being Julia, Britain’s darkly handsome Tom Sturridge has had one goal: to not get stuck playing the upper class Brit (which he actually is). That’s a big reason Sturridge, now 23, took the role of the runaway son in Richard Curtis’ latest comedy Pirate Radio. Interviewed at London’s May Fair Hotel, Sturridge emerges as a thoughtful, independent sort who is handling the “matinee idol” business very well (16 minutes).
