The Brazileuros
Hosted by Béco Dranoff
Originally aired 10/3/11

For this October 2011 program, host and producer Béco Dranoff selected some of his favorite tracks from what he calls the "Brazileuro" style. Since the early 90’s American, European and Japanese artists have incorporated samba and bossa grooves and feels into their music as an homage to Brazil.

Some groups go further, dedicating their whole output to the Brazilian magic – groups such as A Bossa Elétrica from Sweden, Saravah Soul from the UK, Zuco 103 from Amsterdam, among many. Brazilian sounds continue to be a major influence in the work of groups and producers like Jazzanova, Quantic, Snowboy, Nicola Conte, Smoke City, Towa Tei, MadLib, Ursula 1000, Thievery Corporation, Mondo Grosso, Soul Bossa Trio, to name a few. These "foreign" Brazilian sounds push the envelope of what is perceived to be "pure" Brazilian music in favor of the global mash-up of cultures. Enjoy the beats!
