Steina of the Vasulkas On Oct. 17, 2011 during a tour through the East, the legendary video artist Steina, known for her longtime collaborations as half of Steina and Woody Vasulka, a founder of the Kitchen Center in New York, a pioneer in both analog and digital video technologies, and a poet of the moving image whose influence stretches back decades and extends around the globe, visited the Clocktower Gallery to give a demonstration of her work over the decades. Her soundtracks and musical collaborators, here they include Tony Conrad and Joan LaBarbara, make for interesting listening between her commentary. The Vasulka Web site offers extensive documentation of all these works.
