So Percussion Live (2008)
Originally aired
7/14/08
Following their philosophy of "If you're sick of the sounds you've got, you go and find more," Eric Beach, Josh Quillen, Adam Sliwinski and Jason Treuting, the four members of So Percussion, draw on a myriad of influences; from the conceptual dreamscapes of Steve Reich to the rich histories of the instruments they use to perform, including the glockenspiel, toy piano, vibraphones, bowed marimba, melodica, tuned and prepared pipes as well as audio software and sound programming. The ensemble regularly collaborates with other composers, musicians and visual artists to expand the definition of the unique sound environments they create.
This concert recording was made July 5, 2008 at P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center (now MoMA PS1) during the summer Warm Up music series.
