Revolutions in Public Practice: Sustainability in the Face of Global Meltdown
Originally aired on
Friday, January 1st, 2010
As part of October 2009's Creative Time Summit: Revolutions in Public Practice, this "punk rock" panel, Sustainability in the Face of Global Meltdown, features an introduction by artist and global wamring activist Peter Fend, who sheds prescient asides about the then-upcoming Copenhagen Climate Conference while elucidating the contemporary ecological state of the world through the usage of allusive urinals and other art historical references. It is followed by presentations by multidisciplinary artists Mel Chin, who offers an account of the growth and state of The Fundred Dollar Bill Project and Operation Paydirt, founded in response to Hurricane Katrina, and Eve S. Mosher, who gives a primer in experiential learning and discusses her project Seeding the City, which seeks to foster environmentally-engaged communities in order to actively pursue the creation of green spaces (24 minutes).
