Rae Armantrout in conversation with Charles Bernstein on on the truth in poetry, on religion, on living in Southern California, and on the nature of lyric poetry. She also discusses a couple of the poems read in our companion segment, Rae Armantrout Reading. Armantrout's books of poetry include Extremities (The Figures, 1978), Necromance (Sun And Moon, 1991), Made To Seem (Sun And Moon, 1995), The Pretext (Green Integer, 2001), Veil: New and Selected Poems (Wesleyan, 2001) and Up to Speed (Wesleyan, 2003). A prose memoir, True, was published by Atelos in 1998. Armantrout is a professor of English at the University of California, San Diego.
