Park Chan-wook, Thirst
One of the world’s most controversial filmmakers, South Korea’s Park Chan-wook has made a career by going to the extreme – in subject matter,
depictions of violence and gore - in such internationally acclaimed films as
Oldboy, which Steven Spielberg’s company is currently trying to remake, Sympathy for Lady
Vengeance and now Thirst. A vampire tale where a priest becomes a
blood sucker and enters into an unholy relationship with a woman, Park
calls Thirst "the most realistic vampire movie ever made" (27 minutes).
