Informed and shaped by both the political issues of his native country Iran and the aspiration to make art with great universal appeal, Nicky Nodjoumi came to New York during the height of the Vietnam war in 1969 to search for synthesis. It was amidst his student years at the New School of Social Research, New York University. and City College of New York, while participating in the Iranian Student Association, that the crisis that catalyzed a reassessment of the form and content in his work began.
