On May 3, 2011 in the Clocktower Gallery, audio manipulationist G Lucas Crane encountered noise rock aficionado Pete Nolan (Magik Markers) in a improvisational battle with the newly re-designed and upgraded Moral Magistrate presiding. The Moral Magistrate is a machine/computer/construction that listens, gathers data, and calculates morality. It is literally patched into the signal path of each player. At the conclusion of each performance the machine indicates the morally superior performance.
Moral Kombat is made possible with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts, celebrating 50 years of building strong, creative communities in New York State's 62 counties, and support from the Jerome Foundation that seeks to foster a dynamic and evolving culture by supporting the creation, development, and production of new works by emerging artists.
