On May 17th, 2011 audio manipulationist G Lucas Crane invited free jazzer Daniel Carter to a musical duel judged by the remarkable Moral Magistrate (yes we really have a machine that judges music) and once again the device determined which artist's music was morally superior. As Carter gently played his saxophones, Crane gracefully maneuvered his analog/digital sound collection and in the end, Carter's soulful tones proved victorious. Daniel Carter has been a known master of multiple instruments since the early 70s and continues to expand and challenge himself in adventurous situations and always with great heart and beautiful technique.
Moral Kombat is curated by the Clocktower Gallery's former Artist in Residence G Lucas Crane and organized by Performance and Installation Curator Joe Ahearn, and is free and open to the public.
Moral Kombat is made possible with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts, celebrating 50 years of building strong, creative communities in New York State's 62 counties, and support from the Jerome Foundation that seeks to foster a dynamic and evolving culture by supporting the creation, development, and production of new works by emerging artists.
