RADIO // Venice Biennale
Michael Nyman, Beyond Music for Film Michael Nyman visits the Clocktower studios just prior to the 2011 Venice biennale and discusses his work as a photographer and filmmaker as well as a composer. Alanna Heiss and David Weinstein join him for a free ranging and candid conversation about process and style, the virtues and liabilities of writing music for films, and a little history and fantasy. He tells the tale of the Portsmouth Sinfonia, a legendary experimental ensemble operating in London in the early 70s. He also gave us a copy of Collections, his 3-part compilation CD that incorporates music, a booklet of photography, and a short film.
