Lady Wong Davies and Mitchell Wolfson
Originally aired
8/10/09
Jill Spalding speaks with two of the most prominent and important arts philanthropists of our time: Lady Wong Davies, founder and chairman of KT Wong Foundation, and Mitchell Wolfson, the founder of The Wolfsonian. They discuss their many respective collaborations with a vast variety of artists and organizations and the extent of philanthropic collaboration. One of their many shared passions is opera, and polymath Lady Davies pursued her interest in Georg Friedrich Händel and Baroque opera to co-produce, with La Monnaie, a new production of Händel's Semele, directed and designed by Zhang Huan. The production, which commemorates the 250th anniversary of Händel's death, is represented by Susan Grant Lewin Associates and seeks to extend KT Wong Foundation's endeavor to stimulate greater intellectual and artistic dialogue between China and the rest of the world (31 minutes).
