Jeanne Faust
Hosted by Will Corwin
Originally aired 1/23/12

Jeanne Faust is one of the most intriguing videographers/photographers working in Germany today. Will Corwin sits down with her in her Hamburg apartment, which has an entire room reserved for guinea pigs, to have a truly postmodern interview, about interviewing. In her videos such as Interview (2002) and Reconstructing Damon Albarn in Kinshasa (2010), Faust dissects the inherent hierarchies and cultural cues that manifest themselves when one person questions another and, as in the Damon Albarn piece, how these cues appear in the media and popular imagery. Will asks Faust about the vaunted Hamburg Hochschule für Bildende Künste--where Josef Beuys once taught--and about her current undertaking, a film about Vietnamese flower arrangers in Berlin.
