RADIO // Warm Up
Ikue Mori
Originally aired
8/11/08
Originally trained as a fine artist in her native Tokyo, composer/improvisor Ikue Mori moved to New York City in 1977 and began her musical career playing drums for the No Wave band DNA. Mori has since continued to work collaboratively with leading experimental musicians, her style evolving alongside technological advances in electronic sound. Her drum machine work transformed the way that device was and is used in performance and this has continued as she pushes the envelope of software and hardware devices for sound and video.
On July 26, 2008, Ikue Mori performed live at MoMA P.S.1's Warm Up music series, and ARTonAIR.org was there to record it. Art International Radio's Shama Khanna interviewed Ikue Mori after her performance.
