House of YES is a performance venue and art space in Brooklyn, New York. Kae Burke, Director of House of YES, describes what led her from Rochester to Bed-Stuy to Bushwick to found the space, a brief history of which she delineates. She then takes us through the many aspects of the artist collective and its sundry goings-on: for one, there's the aerialist school Skybox, where you too can learn the tricks that Cirque du Soleil and Pink have brought to the forefront of otherwise non-aerialist pop culture; or you can check out Make Fun Studio, a fabric studio that offers weekly workshops on the craft of costume- and prop-making; or become a part of Band of Bicycles, where you can learn to build a bicycle from scratch or participate in the Bike Porn Festival, part of the annual Bicycle Film Festival. Or you could just simply come and enjoy the unending performances, activities and parties that light up their Bushwick warehouse, including those organized by Lady Circus or 3rd Ward. They're regulars at the Mermaid Parade and in 2010 organized the aerialists at the New York Dance Parade. And if you've ever been to Webster Hall and wondered who all the Saturday night circus performers are, herein lies the answer (34 minutes).
