Hisham Matar, Anatomy of a Disappearance

Recorded September 13, 2011 at the book store, a reading from Anatomy of a Disappearance (The Dial Press), the second novel by the Libyan author of In the Country of Men. Set in Cairo and narrated by Nuri, the twelve-year-old son of an exiled anti–Gadhafi dissident, the plot interweaves the personal story of the father’s second marriage with the political narrative of his work against the regime. The book is written with all the emotional precision and intimacy that have won Matar tremendous international recognition.
