Generator Sound Art Gallery
Originally aired on
Friday, July 9th, 2010
On the occasion of the release of Birds + Machines (1980-1989) on Pogus Records, sound artist, juggler, bookmaker, newspaper clipper, curator, tour guide, musician, real estate developer, composer and Generator Sound Art Gallery co-founder Gen Ken Montgomery talks about his early works, his process, influences, evolution and related missions. Montgomery caught attention when he started Generator, the first sound art gallery in New York City, of which he here speaks at length. Montgomery has since proven to be a pioneer of independent noise/concrete music first with cassettes and then with sampling, imaginative use of lo- and hi-fi electronics, and extreme lamination among other pursuits (41 minutes).
