Phong Bui talks to author Eleanor Heartney, one of today's most prominent art and culture critics; she is a contributing editor of ARTnews and ArtPress and Co-President of AICAUSA. Heartney discusses her tremendous art historical and critical output, particularly Postmodern Heretics: Catholic Imagination in Contemporary Art, her exploration of the works of Catholic-raised artists such as Robert Mapplethorpe, Andres Serrano and Robert Gober, through which religion and religious iconography are frequently invoked. Her other texts include Art & Today, Defending Complexity: Art, Politics and the New World Order and Critical Condition: American Culture at the Crossroads, among a great many others (58 minutes).
