For this edition of Sonoridade, host Béco Dranoff presents a special selection of Brazilian songs remixed by international producers and DJ's such as Takako Minekawa from Japan and Peter Kruder from Austria that bring the music to a whole new level.

Béco Dranoff has returned from six weeks in Brazil with a precious cargo of CDs released in 2011 - an amazing year for the modern Brazilian MPB scene. Here he selects some favorite tracks focusing on a progressive vibe, and celebrating Carnaval.

Mr. Sebastião Rodrigues Maia, known to millions simply as Tim Maia, is Brazil’s definitive Soul Brother #1. Tim’s music was heavily influenced by North American Soul and R&B sounds he absorbed while studying in the USA in the early 60s.

Béco Dranoff plays some of his favorite tracks from what he calls the "Brazileuro" style. Since the early 90’s American, European and Japanese artists have incorporated samba and bossa grooves and feels into their music; a global mash-up of cultures.

For the 15th edition of Sonoridade, Béco Dranoff selects some of his favorite original Tropicália gems from '67, '68, '69, '70 as well as a few more recent recordings by the creators of the movement: Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, and more!

On the eve of the Red Hot Organization's 2011 release of RED HOT + RIO 2, producer Béco Dranoff plays some of the songs that were part of the first edition from 1996 The project continues to raise funds and awareness in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

The first Sonoridade program of 2011 is dedicated to legendary Brazilian singer Elza Soares. Born in 1937 in Rio de Janeiro and still very much active today, iconic Elza Soares is revered as a true "living legend" in Brazilian music.

For the November 2010 edition of Sonoridade, host and producer Béco Dranoff selects recent gems from Brazil's cutting edge and most innovative artists, producers, and DJs, such as DJ LK, samba-rock-blues group Garotas Suecas, and many more.

For the fourth edition of Sonoridade, host Béco Dranoff selects classic songs by the Bahian super-group Novos Baianos. This ultra-innovative hippie collective fused for the first time such musical styles as samba, rock, tropicália, MPB, and more.

In the second episode of Sonoridade, host Béco Dranoff proves a commensurate guide to the more-and-lesser known songs of Brazil's musical history through a family-led tour of contemporary musicians' reinterpreting them.
