Composer/producer/shaman Charlie Morrow has always appeared equal parts Fluxus, Occupy Lincoln Center, Lakota mystic, and tech wizard. In this wide ranging and lushly illustrated musical conversation with his partner Maija-Leena Remes and host David Weinstein, Morrow revisits some of the processes and concepts behind a career of paradigm-bending works.
A 2011 release from XI Records entitled TOOT! contains examples from nearly three decades of private experiments and public spectacles including (and excerpted in this program) TOOT N BLINK for boats in a harbor, Marilyn Monroe Collage commissioned by Andy Warhol, Central Park 2007 for bird songs, and more plus a new work with poet Jerome Rothenberg based on the Jewish mystic Abraham Abulafia. He also divines a future path for culture sharing on the Internet and explains his invention in 3-D audio.
