A celebration of BOMB Magazine’s 30th anniversary took the form of an evening of performances hosted by Marlborough Chelsea gallery on March 1, 2011. Collaborations were initiated between disparate artists whose creative paths, once running parallel, now intersect. This segment contains a series of behind-the-scenes conversations and audio snapshots with the participating artists. The recordings were transferred from video pieces by Richard J. Goldstein for BOMBlog and produced for radio broadcast in association with Art International Radio.
In this broadcast: Lovett/Codagnone & Raul Martinez of DETEXT, who contributed sculptural elements to set the scene of the gallery space. Franklin Evans, Niall Noel Jones, & Paul David Young discuss their performance nOt tHere, in which they literally met on common ground with a stage of 8 ½ x 11 inch printouts, each representing different aspects of themselves. Joyce Kim & Katharina Stenbeck continue their collaborations harking back to the project of painting and "traces of Modernism." Their performance Traces Blue VII re-envisions the iconic performances of Yves Klein. Rashaad Newsome launched a new performance featuring live musicians, including baritone Stefanos Koroneos and rapper NAST, in a newly composed musical and video composition. BLVCK AMERICA & Joshua Seidner created a kind of inter-club experience on the second floor of Marlborough Chelsea, entitled Fear of a _____ Planet.
