Betsy Sussler, BOMB Magazine
Originally aired on
Tuesday, November 24th, 2009
Betsy Sussler returns to the Clocktower, where she had her first job in New York City. She gives host Will Corwin a tutorial on how to start a cutting-edge arts magazine based on a seemingly impossible ideal--to talk about art the way artists talk about art--and explains how she's been doing it successfully since 1981. Sussler gets down to brass tacks, discussing topics like how to get advertisers on board using Leo Castelli, why micromanaging doesn't always lead to a great product, and, most importantly, how to pay the printers (32 minutes).
