Barbara Bloom
Barbara Bloom's reimaginings of others' personal moments (Simone de Beauvoir and Jean Paul Sartre sharing keys from their separate apartments; a video showing Marilyn Monroe reading a book) have provided the starting points for some of the most beautiful, haunting and intellectually probing installations in contemporary art. Since the 1980's Bloom has created meticulously crafted interiors that tell of our need to possess objects even while our memories are causing these objects to blur and disappear. Bloom speaks with host Michael Rush about her love of music, theater, books, Vermeer and Godard (33 minutes).
