Anton Corbjn, Control Holland's Anton Corbijn emigrated to England as a teenager partly because of the music of Joy Division. As a fledging photographer he took what became the definitive image of the Manchester-based rock band. Now, after a starry career as celebrity portraitist and music video helmer, Corbijn's come full circle to make a hit directing debut with the black-and-white Control, a biography of Joy Division's suicidal lead singer/songwriter Ian Curtis. Corbijn talks of the nearly mystical connections the saga has with his life, casting newcomer Sam Riley opposite powerhouse Samantha Morton and why he didn't shoot in color.
