Originally aired 6/4/12

On April 18, 2012, at the 9/11 Memorial and Museum Preview Site on Vesey Street, a distinguished panel convened for a discussion on the past, present, and future of the arts downtown with special focus on the history and future of the World Trade Center site and vicinity.

The participants were Anita Contini (Founder, Creative Time), performance artists Eiko and Koma Otake, Linda Shelton (Executive Director, The Joyce Theater) and Liz Thompson (Former Executive Director, LMCC and founder, ArtfullAction Advisors).

The conversation is moderated by Clifford Chanin (Director of Education and Programs, National September 11 Memorial & Museum).

The topics include Creative Time’s influential “Art On The Beach” programming on the World Trade Center landfill from 1978-1985, an accounting of the destruction of LMCC's headquarters and archives in the collapse of the towers, to the planned performing arts center in the newly developed complex.

This was the fourth and final event in the LMCC's 2012 Access Restricted program series. These programs are produced for radio broadcast by ARtonAIR.org in partnership with LMCC. Our thanks to their staff and program participants.
