With Bicameral Research Sound & Projection System, Linton aims to make vibrational wave induced perceptual energy states manifest by deploying interconnected measures of electric sound & pulsing light in live action with hand manipulated objects in physical (live camera) space. He employs an integrated recursive audio & video feedback system of his own perversely simple design modulated by freehand intervention to deliver vigorous eye, ear, and - sometimes - body shaking real time audio.
David Linton's The Bicameral Research Cortical Degausser employs synchronous and proportional sound and colored light pulsation in the frequency range of 10 to 30 vibrations per second (a range that produces closed eye visions of spontaneous geometry in most "normal" individuals) delivered via video signal viewed from special stations designed by Linton and employed in relational space to exteriorize and socialize this phenomenon.
Evening events for this residency were:
Dec 7 - opening event featuring special guest musical performance within the exhibition space by David First on acoustic guitar accompanying the installation sound with excerpts from the 60 Hrz Raga...
Dec 14 - Hahn Rowe - violin & electrics
Dec 21 - David Watson - highland bagpipes
Dec 28 - Sam Hillmer - tenor saxophone & electrics
These events were recorded and merged to produce a final audio document available to the Clocktower's Internet audio archive at ARTonAIR.org.
Also on view was a window display installation executed by Linton in collaboration with Claire Elizabeth Barratt entitled Time on It's Side... This illuminated arrangement of found objects and books (artifacts of the Bicameral work process) offers a playful riff on the motif of "seasonal window shopping for the end of days"...
