A Light Sound Words Collaboration
Tony Martin, Margot Farrington
October 24, 2011 - February 24, 2012

Visual artist Tony Martin and poet Margot Farrington constructed a magical and mysterious sound, light, and video installation in one of the Clocktower Gallery project studios, the product of their 2011 residency at the gallery.

Tony Martin is a founder of new media arts and has incorporated light compositions and visual projections into interactive installations since the 1960s. Recent works include Three Visual Compositions (2007), presented at Issue Project Room, Multiprojector Performance (2008), presented at Art Basel Miami Beach 2008 and sponsored by P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center, and Light Pendulum (2009), an interactive light sculpture commissioned for free103point9’s Wave Farm. Martin’s Clocktower residency will be a collaboration with poet and performer Margot Farrington.

Margot Farrington is writer and poet who fell for words as soon as she could speak, and she’s been in the thick of them ever since. She also knows the power of silence, and how you can arrange to have it happen on the page if you’re thoughtful with text and with white space. And how to initiate something terrifying, or hilarious, or heartbreaking, or just plain factual...

The Clocktower Gallery Artist Production Studios Program is made possible by a grant from MediaThe Foundation.
