Moral Kombat: Darren "Driphouse" Ho vs. G Lucas Crane
By G Lucas Crane, Darren Ho

In the first event of the series Moral Kombat, Crane faced off against Darren Ho of Driphouse in an epic battle of mix-tape mastery and subtle electronic drones. To listen to the live recording of this performance click here.

G Lucas Crane brought with him a custom built tape deck and teal headphones converted into a microphone worn like a snorkel mask. Darren Ho played a synthesizer he had made that was the size of a breadbox. Ho's electronic vibrations, paired with Crane's wailing vocals and tape mixing, created a haunted underwater sound that permeated both floors of the gallery. After the performance, the crowd waited in partial silence as the Moral Magistrate came to a decision, and ultimately, G Lucas Crane was declared the winner. This program was recorded for ARTonAIR.org.

Moral Kombat is curated by former AIR Artist in Residence G Lucas Crane and is organized by AIR's Performance Curator Joe Ahearn. It is free and open to the public.

Moral Kombat is made possible with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts, celebrating 50 years of building strong, creative communities in New York State's 62 counties, and support from the Jerome Foundation that seeks to foster a dynamic and evolving culture by supporting the creation, development, and production of new works by emerging artists.
