Above the Law: Kids Puttin' on the Ritz
By The So So Glos, Mikhail Zharinov and Galina Detkina
On view on February 25, 2011

On February 25th, 2011, the Clocktower Gallery and ARTonAIR.org presented The Kids Puttin’ On The Ritz, a 1940s-themed ball with performances by the Brooklyn rock and roll band The So So Glos and the Fred Astaire Dance Studio’s ballroom dancers Misha Zharinov and Galina Detkina. The punk-inspired So So Glos performed songs from several albums including their recent Low Black Chain Shift, as well as a special waltz and fox-trot for a crowd of two hundred.

Organized by the Clocktower's Curator of Performance and Installation Joe Ahearn, Above The Law is a performance and installation series highlighting young and emerging artists and musicians. Titled in reference to the various legal offices and agencies that occupy the floors in the Clocktower’s City-owned building, Above The Law challenges preconceived notions about pop and avant garde art and music by featuring artists, bands, and performers that draw from both traditions.
