Residencies
To support and promote the work of emerging and established artists across creative disciplines, the Clocktower Gallery hosts a variety of residency programs ranging from audio art to performance art and from new media to radio theater.
The artist/composer will develop and present a new installation for computer-controlled rotary telephones, utilizing robotic controlled swarm intelligence and small-world network algorithms, creating a carillion of ringing phones. Viewing dates TBA.
Kria Brekkan is a name for Kristín Anna Valtýsdóttir when she attempts to do something out of the ordinary. Kria has travelled here from Iceland to develop a musical composition as the audio environment for Shoplifter's Nervescape.
The Flock House Project is a group of self-contained ecosystems designed by Mary Mattingly, who presents two of the structures at the Clocktower Gallery for a series of radio interviews addressing issues surrounding these sculptural microspheres.
Artist Hannah Sawtell is working in one of the Clocktower project studios for the second residency in a new series of ventures with The Island, a new arts initiative out of the UK.
For her spring 2012 residency in performance art at the Clocktower Gallery, writer and engineer of unsettling fantasies Alaina Stamatis has been conducting a series of surreal classes, referred to as "Strife Lessons."
Now on View: A juxtaposition of two immersive installations that tease the nature of light, space, and gravity: one sprawling in a dark void, one of colored shadows that trick the eye. Plus a ballet of crystal and mirrors in our front window display.
